You Are Invited

The number one reason un-churched people come to church is because they were invited by a friend. Most people do not come to church unless they were invited. Sometimes, unfortunately, it takes devastating events in a person’s life to get them to church but for the most part it’s by invitation only.

What are you doing to invite someone to church?

Paul said that Jesus is the image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15). Did you know you are the image of the invisible savior? You are! You call yourself a Christian which means little Christ. So if you are the image of Christ in your neighborhood, work, school, or ball-field, you are the image people get when they think of church. How are you portraying your church?

With people who don’t go to church, they wonder what goes on in the churches they pass by every day while driving. I do. The answer is you. If they are seeing you, they are seeing the church. They are seeing Christ. I wouldn’t expect someone to bust up in a church without having some sort of idea about the worship that’s going on there. They could be some freaky folks in that place. That’s why they won’t go unless they are invited. If they see you, they see the church. If they like you, they like the church. If they don’t like you, they won’t like the church.

How are you portraying the invisible Christ? How are you portraying your church? If you want your church to grow, you must be inviting them!
