Praise You In The Storm

Recently we’ve had a string of storms come through Clarksville. When we bought our house we were forewarned that the Bradford Pears planted in our back yard had proven weak against strong storms. They had already broken once and put a hole in the roof.

The recent storms initially took out two huge limbs a month ago, then another limb last week. Last night Carrie and I woke to the sound of high winds screaming through our backyard. I stared out the window watching this tree whipping the limbs back and forth and I watched as each limb snapped in two and was carefully laid on the ground with no damage to our deck.

As you can see in the picture, the tree is in very close proximity to our back deck, yet through all of the damage to the tree over the last month and a half, nothing has been damaged.

Out God is an awesome God. He finds us blessed enough to spare us any damage to our home by carefully laying the tree limbs in very awkward positions contrary to how they were attached to the trunk simply to show us they could have been laid anywhere yet He chose to lay them safely down. What an awesome God we serve!

The weather is at the hand of God

Psalm 148:87 Praise the LORD from the earth, you great sea creatures and all ocean depths,
8 lightning and hail, snow and clouds, stormy winds that do his bidding…

Mark 4:39-41(39) Then he got up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Hush! Be still!” Then the wind stopped blowing, and there was a great calm. (40) He said to them, “Why are you such cowards? Don’t you have any faith yet?” (41) They were overcome with fear and kept saying to one another, “Who is this man? Even the wind and the sea obey him!”

Psalm 29:3-4, 103 The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders,
 the LORD thunders over the mighty waters. 4 The voice of the LORD is powerful;
 the voice of the LORD is majestic… 10 The LORD sits enthroned over the flood;
   the LORD is enthroned as King forever.
